Prosopagnosia or face blindness: the inability to recognize faces. Face blindness is thought to be the result of abnormalities, damage, or impairment in the right fusiform gyrus, a fold in the brain that appears to coordinate the neural systems that control facial perception and memory. Remember kids, It's fun to be nice Today's conversation is with Ken, a Technical Sales Engineer, a good dude with a lot of interesting thoughts that will force you to think. He's got a charmingly sharp wit that will keep you on your toes. The challenge is to stay engaged past the initial thought. If you do, it's rewarding, we promise. The topics we cover: * some profanity * Prosopagnosia or face blindness * Team in Training * Evil * Nazis * TEDTalk of a reformed neo-nazi * Quotables from Ken: * "It is lazy to hate a group" * "A Year of bad blind dates" * "I'm going to figure out why I'm not popular" Remember: It's fun to be nice for no other reason than to just be nice. Saturday Mar 17, 2018
Part 2 - A Sweet Remembrance. School to Prison Pipeline: The disproportionate tendency of minors and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds to become incarcerated, because of increasingly harsh school and municipal policies. In an uncommon twist to our typical follow-ups, today we continue "A Sweet Remembrance" with Lloyd Wilkey. We do add a follow-up to the conversation in the spirit of our evolution but do carry the episode concluding our discussion with Lloyd. Part 2 takes us deeper into Lloyds work to help eliminate the school to prison pipeline through his boxing program @LARiotboxing. We explore different prison programs that do the opposite of rehabilitation despite desired good intent. We close up our time with Lloyd and greatly appreciate his work in the community, his willingness to share his story and his life journey to fight the injustices in the world while promoting equality. He lives the mission many talk about and he is someone to be admired and heard. A nod to Lloyd as he and his family traverse rough waters and to serve as a reminder that he and his wife their progeny are a living legacy. We really enjoyed recording this and think you'll enjoy listening. Join us as we continue the social experiment to find connection and discussion that can lead to meaningful action. Felecia Killings /// We Find Ourselves With More In Common Than Different /// E011
Thursday Feb 01, 2018
Thursday Feb 01, 2018
Well, here is the first guest episode of 2018! Additionally, this is our first conversation under the new name, MORE IN COMMON! We are excited to bring this discussion to you. In this episode, we have Felecia Killings. Felecia is a devoted mother, educator, and entrepreneur. She is the Founder and CEO of FKMinistries, which seeks to help people walk in their calling. She is the Executive Director of LiyahAmore Publishing, which helps Christian Authors build their writing ministries. And she is committed to helping people discover that we have more in common with each, in spite of our political differences. Today, we find ourselves with more in common than different. She can be found on her website at www.feleciakillings.com. We learn about her experiences helping drive change in her public system and have a great discussion about our differing views on politics and the nature of today's media as it influences the political narrative. This is a wonderful conversation that truly demonstrates the nature of civility and getting to know one another even if we come from opposite viewpoints on any topic. We really have a lot in common with Felecia even though we disagree with a lot of things. The discussion was a lot of fun and was wonderful to have! Enjoy listening as much as we did recording.
